Yesterday, the coordination committee of audio media began their work in Paktia. The committee which have 8 local media members
is established to coordinate and support the local media in their professional goals and is supported by the Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union in Paktia.
At the first meeting of this committee held in collaboration with Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union and Afghanistan Free Media Association, beside discussing of coordinating between audio media in Paktia, also discussed about forming a coordination committee between the media and government offices.
Aseel Zazai representative of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union in Paktia which was one of this meeting’s participant says; we wanted Paktia government agencies to provide security and safety for journalists and media in the province, the plan from journalists, media and government media will be prepared and practiced.
According to Mr. Aseel, the 303 zone police commander, the head of information and culture of Paktia and number of other government officials and civil society institutions known the coordination among media are one of the key requirement and according to the president’s last decree about the safety of media and journalists announces that they are ready for any cooperation with journalists and media in Paktia.
Assadullah Sherzad, police chief of 303 zone said in the meeting; we with media supporter institutes will talk about forming of the committee to establish security and safety for journalists and media.
At the meeting, representatives from most government offices and a number of civil society institutions, including the provincial office of the human rights commission and a number of tribal elders participate.
According to Aseel Zazai, the coordination committee for the print media will also be formed in this province.
