About the Program

Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union (ANJU)

International Journalists Services (IJS) Program

Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union was established in 1979 and has been active and extensive during 4 decades of great changes in Afghanistan. The union is the largest union of journalists in Afghanistan, which operates in more than 30 provinces of Afghanistan and has nearly 3,000 journalists from all over the country.

Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union, independently and in collaboration with national and international organizations, has provided more than 100 training programs in the field of journalism to enhance the capacity of Afghan journalists over the past 20 years. In addition, it has been instrumental in creating legislation to facilitate media and journalism in Afghanistan over the past 20 years.

At the same time, during the last 20 years, ANJU has taken clear and principled positions in defending the freedom of expression and rights of journalists, and he has a great deal of experience in dealing with the legal issues of journalists.

In the current context of the great transformation in Afghanistan, Afghanistan is in the spotlight of the world and the media and journalists from all over the world tend to cover the events in Afghanistan, whether in person or remotely. Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union has activated the “International Journalists Services” section to work with foreign journalists in Afghanistan. Our colleagues in this field try to cooperate with foreign journalists and provide the necessary facilities for foreign journalists in Afghanistan. We strive for the media to convey Afghanistan’s issues to the world accurately and credibly.
