
In the last two weeks, two training coerces on prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis disease were held by Ministry of Public Health with Collaboration of Afghanistan's National Journalists Union.
In each of these training courses, more than 20 journalists from different media companies were trained.
Dr. Noor Agha Zahid, Head for public awareness and controlling Tuberculosis in the ministry of public Health , says: “Tuberculosis is a preventionalble and treatment able disease, but due to lack of awareness or information many people lose their lives by Tuberculosis disease.”
Public awareness of Tuberculosis disease programs is carried out by the Ministry of Public Health in the country with the Help of Internationl institute of “Global Fund” and Bangladesh institute of BRAK
Doctor Zahid says: “ this program was held regularly in 34 provinces of Afghanistan and confirmed that different groups of people have been awarded about Tuberculosis disease.”
Somehow, these kind of training programs forms a part of Afghanistan National Journalists Activities and tries to collaborate in holding such training programs for fulfilling its responsibility to every individuals in the country.
Mr. Faheem Dashty, the executive director of ANGU said: “ Journalists can use the Media to transfer the information for prevention and treatment of TB disease to reach their audience, so that they could play their role in controlling it.”
In the past two months, various training programs have been held by ANGU, most notably, the training programs of “Journalists and Election” which was held with the help of "DW Academy" and “Journalists and law” training program.
The training program of “Journalists and Law” was held one month ago in Kabul City with the help of Poland Embassy in Afghanistan which will last until 20 of October. It have been also scheduled to start these training programs in Balkh, Khost, Ningarhar and Herat Provinces.
