“National Directorate of Security, The Attorney General and Anti- bribery and Corruption Administration must give a clear answer about the evidence that shows corruption in the ministry of information and culture”.

At a press conference that was held at the headquarters of ANJU today, Mohammad Fahim Dashti, chief executive of ANJU said: “It has been two months since the case of financial corruption of Sayed Makhdoom Raheen, Minister of Information and Culture, is sent to the responsible institutions, but still no response has been received in this regard.”

The Attorney General, Anti- bribery and Corruption Administration and National Security Directorate had previously said: “The responsible commission will examine the documents of this case” but the outcome of the investigation has not yet been declared.

According to the Chief Executive of ANJU in the past few days official letters have been sent by this Union to ask the responsible commission to speed up the investigation and share the results with public.

He included: “Recently the documents of this case has been sent to the Religious and Cultural Affairs Committee of House of Representatives and Complaints Commission of Senate So that they can also start the investigations on the case.”

Mr. Dashty added: “We are willing to provide further details about the case to the responsible institution for reviewing the documents.”

Nearly a month ago one of western publications released claims about the involvement of Information and Culture Minister in Corruptions in a report titled “A Million dollars Minister of Afghanistan” and later the translation of the report was also published in a number of Afghan Media. But Afghanistan National Journalists Union weeks before the release of the report had sent the related documents to the responsible government institutions for further review.

Mr. Habib Rahman Ibrahimi, a freelance Journalist who formerly worked with Pazhwak, war and peace Reporting Institute, Kabul Weekly and cooperated with many other media, explained his arrest by American forces in the news conference.

According to Ibrahim’s explanation, a year ago, he was arrested by American forces and was transferred to Bagram military base where he was held for more than a week.

After his release from detention of U.S. forces, in cooperation with the Afghanistan National Journalists Union Mr. Ibrahim wrote a petition to the president calling for investigation and compensation.

Faeeim Dashty, Chief executive of ANJU said: “Despite of repeated calls to the office of Presidential Spokesperson and head of President’s office, yet no action have been taken regarding to the request of Mr. Ibrahim.”
