Following of journalist’s murder cases begins.

At a meeting held today with deputy minister of information and culture, deputy of second vice president and a number of media officials and media support institutions, understanding on how to pursue cases of murdered journalists as been declared. In the last 15 years, around 60 journalists have lost their lives which about 40 of them have been murdered, but the case of these killings are remains inconclusive and perpetrators of these murders are still unknown and have not been brought to justice.

After the request of Afghanistan Journalists Federation and media institutions from the president of Afghanistan to follow up these murder cases, the president issued a verdict on which other paragraph such as immunity for reporters and journalists and media safety was mentioned, he order to the judicial authorities to follow up these cases.

Later in a meeting which a number of Afghanistan Journalists Federation and media institution council members and a number of media official had also brief discussions with Mohammad Sarwar Danish the second vice president about these murder cases.

According to the negotiations in the verdict and discussion with second vice president, soon the investigation of these cases will begin, at first step the federation with collaboration of the first deputy ministry of information and culture will prepare a report about these cases and a meeting will be held with second vice president and attorney general and share the report with them.

The federation will also be working with the ministry of information and culture in the next steps and delivery the results of the follow ups.

At today’s meeting, in other cases which the media, reporters and media workers had concerns, they discussed that the federation in collaboration with the government will seek appropriate solutions to these concerns.
