The governor and security officials in Herat announced their readiness of forming a committee to provide security for journalists in the province. Herat Governor, Chairman of national security, the police chief and representative of national army in west zone had meeting with number of reporters and and representative of journalists’ institutions held in Herat province conference hall.
Herat governor Mohammad Asif Rahimi stressed his serious efforts in implementation of new verdict of president at the meeting and showed his readiness to support the media community and reporters.
Mr. Qadir Shaheen representative of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union in Herat who participated in the meeting said; this meeting was held on suggestion of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union’s representatives in Herat and said at the end that a temporary committed consist of seven people from security institutions and governor media institute will be formed and talk about how to maintain the safety of journalists and media committee, goals of internal self-responsibility, they will prepare the complete plan and take practical action on the forming of the committee in the next meeting.
In this meeting a number of journalists and media institutes also welcome the new verdict of the president regarding preserve the safety of journalists, reporters on how to secure media, how to facilitate access to government information and support of Herat local governance in regard to carrying out programs to capacitate the journalists.
Officials in Herat province welcoming he proposals, promised that local administration of Herat to meet its obligations to support media freedom, safety of journalists and activities.
They also called for more attention of the media on supporting the country’s economic, and basics and encourage the investors to invest in the country.
A similar meeting will be scheduled in the next few days to form officially the committee of security insurance, and complete naming of this committee’s officials in presence of security officials of Herat and reporters.
