
Nusratullah Iqbal, Bukhty News Agency reporter has been severely beaten up in Macrorayan area of Kabul city yesterday evening.
Parwan governor denied any involvement in this incident
while Kabul police officials say they are awar of the incident, but they don’t know the attackers. Abdul Basir Salangy the governor of Parwan province said: “we accidently met and had verbal dispute yesterday because he had insulted some personalities.”
Meanwhile friends of Iqbal have written in social Media that the reason why he was beaten up by Parwan governor was a critique written by him about Salangy’s book; the book which will be published soon.
In addition, in a video that has been released in social Media, Iqbal says that he was invited to a restaurant in Kabul by people who were closed to the Parwan governor, and then there he was beaten up by the governor and his bodyguards.
Afghanistan's National Journalists Union has declared in a statement: “the union condemns any kinds of violence against reporters, and nobody has the right to beat up others specially the reporters.” Other part of the statement emphasises: “the law enforcement agencies must capture the attackers and let them be prosecuted as soon as possible.”
