President Karzi's new order to enact limitation on media

President Karzi has ordered ministry of Information and culture to prevent broadcasting of frivolous television programs.

President Karzi has issued this order after the meeting with "Ulema High Council" UHC. They have emphasized to stop broadcasting of vulgar movies, Serials In number of TV channels.

Afghanistan Ulema high council has offered suggestions to president Karzi in this regard,

"the broadcasting of trivial movies are spreading day by day,

-There are televisions that are willing towards triviality, and showing lurid and immoral movies that are in contradiction to our Islamic teaching،

-The target is towards degeneracy and triviality in our country,

-The broadcasting of such foreigner movies and Serials are in contradiction to our cultural and religious teachings. "

Further to the demands of UHC, the presidential office has announced an statement, that president Karzi has ordered to ministry of  Information and Culture to stop broadcasting of vulgar programs, movies and Serials in TV networks.

Where of Its not the first time that UHC is against some TV programs, But also they warned these TV networks to stop broadcasting of trite Serials.

Now the members of UHC has demanded president Karzi to be serious in this regard ,and if  after the issuance of this order, any TV network disobeys the order. must be closed down.

The media supporter  organizations has expresses their concern to the demand of "UHC" and president's order in this respect.

Afganistan's National Journalists Union  has declared that no decision about TV broadcasting, must be the reason for media limitation.

Faheem Dashty,  executive Director of ANJU says; based on mass media laws, the" Mass Media Commission"  has to be formed, and whenever a person or an institution has complaints on media, the case should be resolve rough legal  mass media commission , added that "unless minister of culture and information hasn't put aside the violation of law, and maintained the illegal "media complaints commission" there will be no legal way to consider complaints on media. "

ANJU has  also issued a declaration in this aspect "  President Karzi instead of issuing such orders must direct minister of culture into his responsibilities."

Seedigulah Tawhidi, Head of media watch, also states that president Karzi has issued unlawful order in this regard to enact limitation on media,

He added; the activity of media is based on AFG Constitution  as well as mass media laws, therefore presidential office and minister of culture cannot issue any order beyond the abiding laws of Afghanistan.
