Celebration of World Press Freedom Day, Journalists are concern over the increasing violence against them in the Northeast of the country.

Last month was the most violent month against journalists in northeast of the country.

Tens of journalists gathered to celebrate World Press Freedom Day, last Friday morning in Taloqan, the capital of Takhar province, to express their concern over the recent violence against journalists in the country especially in the northeast region of Afghanistan. they demanded from the government officials to put an end to this problem .They also fully declared their support for recent activities of journalists Federation of Afghanistan  and urged greater efforts to put pressure on the government entities responsible for the violations against journalists. Meanwhile they have asked for the prosecution of  those behind   such violence

Sayed Yasin Dhzad head of ANJU in Takhar province: "tens of news reports in Takhar province which is a instrumental redress of social problems have been broadcast by reporters that many of these reports have been very constructive in the foregoing respects, but instead of being appreciated and encouraged, they have been subjected to violence, abuse and humiliation."

Z. Majidi, head of the foundation for Culture and media in Kunduz also pointed to recent examples of violence against journalists, Saying that the security agencies should take the earliest possible perpetrators of violence detected and not allow more abuses and humiliations against Journalists. some news which indicates the raise of violence in Northeast  was raised by  Majidi : beating of a journalist and shattering of his work equipment in Takhar, Another journalist was seriously wounded by gunshots in Badakhshan  as well as a women journalist threatened to abduction, Likewise, the NOORIN TV reporter had been beaten up in Kundoz province, head of Bakhter Media house in this province was insulted and hurt, at the same time many journalists have been threatened and insulted in the area.

The government authorities in the northeast while  pointing  media freedom and the freedom as symbol  of the country's tremendous achievements over the past decade, So they expect/insist on full collaboration from the media and journalists. Ahmad Faisal Bigzad , the governor of Takhar, said: "Unfortunately, in some cases, journalists and media practitioners are faced crucial problems, but the government is committed to securing the freedom of expression and protection of journalists and the media in the country. "However reporters of northeast, called for practical steps to prosecute the perpetrators of violence against journalists in the field as soon as possible.
