A training program titled ‘Elections and media’ which was held by Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union (ANJU) in Kabul has concluded.
Tens of national and international active journalists had participated in this program. This program was held in cooperation with European Centre For Electoral Support (ECES) & European Union and it was based on the contents of ‘Media and journalists during elections’ handbook which was previously prepared by ANJU.
The participants of the program deemed the contents of this training program as resourceful in raising awareness of media and journalists in regards to covering the elections and asked for similar programs to be held in other provinces as well.
The officials of ANJU state that people put their trust in the information provided by media. Thus being aware of how to provide authentic and neutral information is essential during the elections.
For this purpose, ANJU has prepared a handbook for media and journalists in this respect which will be published and distributed throughout the country soon.
