Celebration of World Press Freedom Day and the anniversary of the martyrdom of Ajmal Naqshbandi

Afghanistan's National Journalists Union celebrated  the anniversary of the martyrdom of Ajmal Naqshbandi and World press freedom day in Kabul.

At this meeting a large number of, journalists, civil society activists and government officials  were involved .

Speakers  of the meeting praised the achievements of the last ten years in the media and journalists to obtain the value of the victims. Mubarez Rashdi Deputy Minister of Ministry of Information, Culture, at his part of speech said: "The government should pursue cases of murdered journalists and announce it's results."

At the meeting, media award, which is named "Ajmal Naqshbandi" is squash, were also awarded to the two journalists. This award was given to 8am Newspaper's Journalist Ali Akbar Rostami who  produced few investigative report recently. the second prize to  Saye jan . Sabaoon a freelance  journalist covering  several  incidents of suicide attacks , and explosions, and was beaten by security forces, but also seriously pays full coverage of these incidents

Faheem Dashty,  executive  Director of ANJU said .in the last 11 years number of Afghan journalists sacrificed their in order to provide information, in this list the first name is journalist Ajmal Naqshbandi who was beheaded by the Taliban."

he added  "According to our plan, this award we be presented to tow brave Journalists annually.

Ms. Najiba Ayubi,  deputy president of  ANJU  said: " naming an award for Ajmal Naqshbandi is as part of a long term strategic  plans of  ANJU.

officials of ANJU Says that they will try to turn this award as National award in the future.

Faheem Dashty  also promised that in the near future big plans for the protection of journalists' trade union rights and freedom of expression and free media and the design will perform. He said he will not say what program to run; but surely in the coming months to see new projects being implemented by ANJU.
