Grand Technology Resources (GTR) donated 100,000 Afghanis to Journalists Support Fund.
Ustad Ahmad Said deputy chairman of GTR handed over a check of 100,000 Afghanis to the leadership of the Fund during a meeting.
GTR as the name suggests, is a pioneer in technology services.
Since the application of amendments in its regulation and structure, this is the first donation by any private sector company to the Fund.
Prior to this, President Ghani had donated five million Afghanis to the Fund and had also instructed the ministry of finance to donate 10 million more.
In recent weeks, the Fund has made financial assistance to seven journalists using these donations and currently, it is working to create a mechanism based on which further assistance will be made to the families of journalists and media workers who lose their lives in the line of duty.
The leadership of Journalists Support Fund while appreciates the donation by GTR, deems it as a first step in persuasion of other private sector companies to follow suit and help the Fund.
