Draft of moral principles for Afghan journalists was prepared on Sunday, February 10, 2013.
A working commission of 35, including the representatives of Ministry of Information and Culture and member organizations of Afghanistan Journalists
Federation, and pioneer journalists, have worked on this draft for more than two months.
Among them a group of seven have been assigned to review the previous moral principles of other journalist organization and then provide the new draft.
The prepared draft was discussed later on in the commission’s meetings and eventually while the draft was endorsed, it was decided that Afghanistan Journalists Federation in a close cooperation with Ministry of Information and Culture and UNAMA pave the way for final approval of the docment.
The drafting commission was already reached an agreement which will allow the commission to share the draft of journalists’ moral principles with a large number of journalists and media activists in order to collect their comments and advices.
And now Afghanistan Journalists Federation and Ministery of Information and Culture are going to hold at least four advisory meetings in four large cities of the country (Herat, Kandahar, Mazar and Nengarhar).
In these meetings some representatives from neighbouring provinces will also be invited.
At the end (probably at the end of Saratan 1392) about one thousand journalists and media activists would be invited form different provinces into Kabul in order to vote for final approval of moral principles of journalists in Afghanistan.
