The United Nations has warned that probably the year 2012 is one of the most deadly years for journalists; therefore, there is a need to support freedom of expression and secure the journalists.

According to the UN report, up to now that still one month is left to the end of the year 2012, more than one hundred journalists have lost their lives around the world.

Iraq, Philippines, Algeria and Russia, on top of the list, form first to fourth level, are the most insecure countries for journalists.

In this list Afghanistan has taken the eighth place.

The Un report also reveals that most of these journalists are not murdered during reporting process but they are victims of target killings.

This report reveals concerns about increasing cases of violence, illegal detentions and kidnaping of journalists in different countries as well.

2012 was also a deadliest year for Afghan journalist. During this year at least three Afghan journalists have lost their lives.

One of the concerns of the UN report is lack of investigation about causes of murders of journalists in the countries. Since 2002 almost twenty Afghan journalists have killed and Afghan government has no answer for that, in fact these cases have not been legally investigated.
