The event was conducted because of joint efforts by Afghan female journalist’s association, the center for support of female journalists, and international association of female journalists in radios and TVs. The aim of this event was to appreciate female journalists who are serving in the top management of media organizations.
In this event, a certification letter was distributed to 15 female participants who completed a seminar on leadership, both, in academic and practical terms.
These 15 female journalists, was actively working for 7 months in the framework designed by the federation of journalists and media organizations, supported by female journalist’s organizations.
This group of female journalists who were supported by above media organizations, developed a gender policy for media outlets. Also, they have drafted a research on the role of female journalists in Afghan media family. They have also actively participated through their comments and proposals in regular meetings of the federation.
According to the management of the event, this program will be extended to cover more journalist as a long-term initiative, which will be supported by the federation.
The main objective of such a program is to build and promote the leadership capacity of female journalists. So, their participation at the managerial level will be ensured equally in the long run.
