Some of the journalists, including editor-in-chief of 1TV was beaten up and briefly detained by the security guards of President Protective Service (PPS) as he was supposed to attend an off the record discussion at the Government Media Information Center (GMIC) on Monday.
The federation of journalists and media organizations consider this act and any other kinds of violence against journalism and media, as the violation of constitution and a matter that should be investigated seriously.
PPS has committed such acts of violence against the media and journalism many times in the past. However, the commander of PPS committed in the mark of national journalists’ day in ARG that the PPS forces under his command will not repeat such violations.
Nonetheless, the series of violation continues and despite apparent apologizing; which includes an apologizing message to 1TV, the process did not stop. Therefore, the federation asks the commander of PPS to fulfill its commitment and investigate the incident seriously.
