
Takhar reporters and journalists right advocate agencies at a protest meeting in the provincial office of the Afghanistan National Journalist Union in Takhar, demanded from the chief of police to make an apology to the Takhar journalists.
The journalists condemned the Takhar chief of police for misbehaving, insulting, humiliating and threatening journalists from Radio Salam Watandar and Khurshid TV. At the meeting, reporters called on journalist right advocate agencies and the interior ministry to put a stop to the illegal activities, impositjon of limits to media work, threatening and prosecution of journalists by the Takhar chief of police.
Two days ago, Hashmat Muslim, Takhar Chief of police called on Irfan barzgar reporter of Salam Watandar and Shafiq Pouya reporter of Khurshid TV to visit his office and threatened them not to report on the incidents and security problems of Takhar province. In case of making reports, he will file and arrest them.
The Afghanistan National Journalist Union considers this action of the Takhar Police Chief illegal and against journalists and hopes that the ministry of interior will take this into consideration and investigate in this regard.
