
In this training program, nearly thirty journalists and media staff from both boys and girls was participated.
The Afghanistan national journalist’s union (ANJU) representative Enayatullah Ziarmal spoke at the beginning of program, saying: that the Afghanistan national journalist’s union with support of ECES through the Project in Support of Enhanced Sustainability and Electoral Integrity in Afghanistan (PROSES) funded by the EU, has held this program with the aim to raise the journalist’s awareness, so that journalists can use the materials of this program to properly contribute to the fairness of the election and its correctness.
During the program, Mr. Masror Lotfi a member of the Afghanistan national journalist’s union and trainer of the mentioned program started the program and discussed around election statistics, key stakeholders in the election process, especially the role of media oversight, as well as the electoral law frameworks.
In the Another part of the program, trainer focused on new amendments to the Electoral Code, the role of media in elections news coverage, female journalists and their participation in the electoral process, international commitments to conduct Afghanistan elections and about the media monitoring right during the elections extensive discussions took place.
Participants expressed their views on the program and thanked for its launch in Parwan province. They have also pledged to contribute to the upcoming elections by following the principles which were set out in this training program.
