Murder of a well-known journalists in Jalalabad

Yesterday night (Jan 29, 2016) Mr. Mohammad Zubair Khaksar the broadcasting director of Nangarhar Milli radio television has been attacked by unknown gun-men. Mr. Khaksar which had over 20 years’ experience in different section of Nangarhar Milli radio television, recently was appointed as cultural advisor to the Nangarhar Governor.

Khaksar had completed his undergraduate degree in literature, beside his working with Nangarhar Milli radio television, he was cooperating and working with other media. According to the officials of Arman Milli newspaper, Khaksar has been working with this newspaper since 13 years as volunteer.

Khaksar was also running and preparing the literary and satirical programs on National Television Kabul.

A colleague of Mr. Khaksar, who doesn’t want his identity be disclosed, said Khaksar recently received threats from the Islamic State in Nangarhar.

Nangarhar Security officials say, they still haven’t determined the identity of the attackers and they have begun researches for the same.

However, media supporter organization says that the promise of security institutions is not believable in pursuit of such cases.

Mr. Faheem Dashty CEO of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union said; Its not overstatement to say that in previous years, hundreds of such cases of attacks on journalists and media staff toke place, but in the meantime, perhaps cases to the number of fingers of one hand is not clear by police investigations.

Dashty Said, Media supporter organizations and medias institutes will soon have joined meeting with ministers of interior, defense and national security chief, and will have strain treats the roots of these problems.
