Regulation on how the establishment and operation of mass media, which guarantees the professional rights and privileges of the media worker especially career and life safety has been penetrated and will be seriously fulfilled.

At a press conference which held today by officials of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union, Afghan Media Watch, Afghan journalist’s protection committee and deputy minister of ministry of information and culture of Afghanistan at government media center, full explanation of this regulation has been provided.

In this regulation, the contract for media workers, insurance rights, privileges if they wounded, martyred or disabled they should be paid by bonuses, retirement right, overtime working and other related working policies are clearly declared in this conference.

Before this and in the absence of a legal suspension, the media owners were not providing any bonus or other rights to their employees if they wounded or affected in any way, they were not counting themselves accountable or responsible in anyway, another problem, there was no law to protect the rights of journalists and media workers.

The media advocacy and media support institutes requests the government to take serious action to implement these guidelines and announces to the media workers, to get in touch with these institutes if they have any complains of inappropriate reaction of media owners against them.
