In protest at beating of journalists by security forces
Some of the journalists from different media outlets are saying that they have been beaten up by security forces when they were reporting on the incident of suicide attack took place on last Wednesday in Kabul.
According to the Reporter, First, security forces prevented their entry into the scene and then put them into physical violence. Afghanistan National Journalists’ Union (ANJU) strongly denounces all forms of violence against journalists. We ask the security forces of our country to respect working realm of reporters and do not make barriers before their reporting process.
ANJU also demands high ranking security officials to prevent unlawful treatment of forces, under their responsibility, with reporters. And question them if such an incident happens, so on one hand, that be an answer to their illegal attitude toward reporters, and on the other hand, it be a lesson to the other security forces to avoid bad treatment and Physical attack on journalists.
We also request other journalist, freedome of speech and media organizations of the country to strictly oppose any kinds of unlawful treatment against journalists and media activists.
