Afghanistan Journalist's Federation inauguration
Today, Saturday20th of Jan, Afghanistan Journalist's Federation (AJF) declared its presence in a meeting in Kabul.
The AJF has been established based on a memorandum of understanding which is signed between journalist and media organizations and freedom of speech defending institutions.
Afghanistan National Journalists’ Union, Afghanistan National Journalists and Reporters Union, Free Journalists Association of Afghanistan, Afghan Journalist Women Association, Journalists Defending Committee of Afghanistan, Committee for Safety of Afghan journalists, SAFMA Afghanistan, and NAY- the protector of free mToday, Saturday 20th of Jan, Afghanistan Journalists’ Federation (AJF)declared its presence in a meeting in Kabul.
The AJF has been established based on a memorandum of understanding which is signed between journalist and media organizations and freedom of speech defending institutions.
Afghanistan National Journalists’ Union, Afghanistan National Journalists and Reporters Union, Free Journalists Association of Afghanistan, Afghan Journalist Women Association, Journalists Defending Committee of Afghanistan, Committee for Safety of Afghan journalists, SAFMA Afghanistan, and NAY- the protector of free media in Afghanistan are the founding members of AJF.
In the meeting which was held by the leading council of AJF today, the participants were insisting that more coordination between their organizations can remove the weaknesses of last year’s regarding the protecting and defending of rights and freedom of media and reporters.
Mr. FahimDashty the Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan National Journalists’ Union and the representative of this organization in AJF said: “lack of coordination between our organizations had caused our activities do not fulfill the needs, regarding protecting journalists and media, in our country.”
He added: “now, by establishing such an umbrella organization, which is based on a memorandum of understanding between our organizations, hopes are being raised that from now on Afghan journalists and media would benefit from this powerful and trusted institution in order to reach to their basic rights and freedom.”
In this meeting Mr. Abdul HameedMubarez, Mr. KhpelwakSapy, Mr. M. ZubairShafyee, Mr. SediqullahTawheedy, and Mrs. ShafiqaHabiby also had speeches on behalf of their organizations.
During this meeting the Journalists’ Council of Afghanistan leading by Mr. GhawsZelmay also showed interest to enter AJF.
Right now Afghanistan Journalists’ Federation is being led a leading council which has nine members. Officials say that in the coming future an action plan will be prepared and declared for AJF which will contain goals and objectives of this organization.
In the declaration which is released in occasion of AJF establishment, it’s been cleared that the action plan will try to find answers to the current anxieties of media in Afghanistan.
