Another unlawful act of Media Violation and Complaints Investigation Commission

Media Violation and Complaints Investigation Commission (MVCIC), which is led by Minister of Information and Culture, has referred Arman-e- Mili Daily News Paper to the attorney office,  for the article, insisting that an accused terrorist was released based on a bail.

Arman –e- Mili officials claim that they were not invited to the meeting of MVCIC and the decission has been made in their absence.

Afghanistan National Journalists’ Union (ANJU) condemns the last decission of MVCIC about Arman –e- Mili Daily News Paper while repeatedly insists that existence of MVCIC is against media law in the country.

We also believe that such illegal and unreasonable actions would nigetively affect journalism and media industry in the country.

ANJU asks other Media and free expression support organizations, especially Afghanistan Journalists Federation (AJF), to escalate the pressures on Minister of Information and Culture in order to compel him to cancel MVCIC and establish the Mass Media Commission (MMC) which is mentioned in current mass media law.
