Afghanistan's National Journalists Union Supports the recent statements of the President
Mr. President Karzai by pointing to some Media who insults and interlard sequester between ethnic groups in country said today; “It is our duty to stand against those who are trying to destroy National Unity of Afghanistan, and implement the law on such personalities with our all strength.”
Although the president did not name any particular Media, but it seems, these statements were made with reference to a Program of Zhvandon TV, in which a participant of the program directly insulted deferent ethnic groups of the country.
He also included: “ Insulting any Afghan is like insulting the people of the Country. Those who are insulting Afghan Nation, Languages or promotes Zealotry are not Afghan representative.”
Afghanistan's National Journalists Union, while supporting the freedom of expression as an undeniable value, believes that any misuse of this right is against enacted laws of the Country.
We support President Hamid Karzai for pursuing those Medias who interlards sequester between the ethnic groups and people of the country by any name. but we insist that any reaction against these kinds of media should be done in the framework of enacted Laws in the country through legal channels.
Afghanistan's National Journalists Union also requests all Media activists in the county to respect the ethical conducts and enacted Laws of Afghanistan during their professional activities specially in such sensitive political conditions.
