Few days ago number of journalists and media activists started campaign and complained on BBC Pashto and Dari and request answers from them regarding the coverage of Taliban terrorist attack on the media workers.
The campaign started after an interview of BBC Dari and Pashto with the Taliban spokesmen, in a public complain campaign, the interview of BBC was against impartiality according to the rule, policy and standards of media broadcasting and professionals and help the spread of propaganda and threats of Taliban against Afghanistan journalists.
8AM newspaper as a credible and impartial newspaper has broadcasting this complains article which was seeking clarification in regard from BBC.
On 27 February, the head of BBC’s languages told 8AM newspaper in a letter about their serious investigation and they accepted that this act was against media and BBC standards and professionals and ensures that they will try their best and do all their efforts to prevent such event from happening again this answer was published on the 28 February dated publication of 8AM newspaper.
Afghanistan’s Journalists and Media Federation which supports the media freedom in a proper journalism frame rule and also supports the journalists and media worker’s safety welcomes the BBC action and request its directors to safe their impartiality in regard and safe their audience’s trust on this institute by trying their best to follow their media standards and don’t publish such problematic interview which was made between their reporter and Taliban in future.
This federation knows BBC one of the veteran and vanguard organization of freedom of speech and professional institute and they expect from BBC to save their reputation as a credible and impartial media institution.
The federation also requests international media outlets who has publications in Afghanistan to ensure they are acting impartial and consider national interests while reporting the events of this country and never interfere any personal or political matter into their professionals and standards, obviously if such action happens, the federation will investigate the matter and the offending media and journalists will be introduced to commission of complains of media and violation of media rules.
