In the last few weeks, graph of attacks against the media activist has been rapidly increasing in the country.
In this period Mr. Salem Wahdat owner of Bokhdi News has been assassinated at front of his home, gun fired on Ahmad Saeedi author and political analysts in shahr-e-naw Kabul and after all Mr. Attai the owner of Asia local TV has been murdered.
In the same time number of media activist shows their worries and says they are under continuous threats. Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union call this situation extremely worrying and requests the security agencies to pay more attention on the security of media activists.
Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union also requests the NDS and MoI to identify and arrest the perpetrators of these cases and do more effort and enthusiasm.
We believe that the protection and defense to the practitioners of freedom expression should be the priority for the government and such threats and attempts to strangle the throats of freedom of speech will not succeed to stop this value or stop the activists of this field from their activity.
We also request the national and international media advocacies to defend the journalists, freedom of expression, free media associations and to launch a wide advocacy program to protect them.
