Media stations in Kunduz are in a worrying situation

After the Taliban were able to occupy the province and in the days after conflict between the government forces and terrorists continued, a number of active local, national and international media in Kunduz faced serious problems.

The reports which Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union has obtained shows that at least the terrorist group has attacked, burned, looted or destroyed the office, building and equipment of six private and government media stations in Kunduz, its predicted that the scale of damages is much more than this.

The presence of the terrorists in Kunduz, also caused dozens of local, national and international media journalists to be force to leave their homes with their families and refuge to other provinces.

Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union while considering the nature of Taliban terrorists and their associates, their treatment with the media and journalists is highly concerned.

The Union has demanded the security forces during operations against terrorist should have serious consider about the media and their employees safety.

We also demand the government, national and international organizations to assist the media who have faced damages on the recent clashes in Kunduz and should be prepare for any necessary supports.

Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union express its readiness for detailed investigation to the damages has been affected to the media stations in Kunduz and cooperate with any government, national and international institutes.
