Wednesday March 12, 2014

A Swidesh Journalist, Mr. Niels Henery, was shot to death in a safe and diplomatic place of Kabul City this morning.

A day before this incident, Mokhtar Wafayi one of the active journalists in Mazar-e-Sharif has been beaten up by unknown armed people.

The Security officials says that they have started the investigation according to these tow case but still they didn’t present the details about the cause and perpetrator of these incidents.

Afghanistan,s National Journalists Union while expressing its concern on these two cases and seriously condemn it, request  the government specially security officials to strongly attempt for finding the causes of these incidents.

We believe that these kinds of accidents can be serious threat to the free flow of information, Especially during  the presidential elections as one of the most crucial developments in the country.

We also request the security officials to prevent these incidents before happening and guarantee the safety of Journalists and media activists.

While such incidents constantly happening, the Ministry of Information and Culture as a sectored Ministry for the activities in the field of Media is not taking any action even did not show any reaction during previous incidents.

ANJU strongly condemns the indifference of Ministry of Information and culture on such cases.
