President Ghani in the presence of a large number of journalists and media officials promise that soon he will respond
to their demands. Yesterday evening, the participants adopted a national meeting for ethical standard of journalism was guest of president in salaam home palace the guesthouse of president.
In this meeting which about 300 journalists, media managers and government officials were participated, Fahim Dashty and Zia Bomya spoke on behave of journalists and media federation of Afghanistan, they said the adoption of national journalist’s ethics is one of the important and big step in the unity government and the history of country and the shared the demand of journalists and media institutions with the president.
Renewal of the media activity permits and the policy of media activities which a large amount was mentioned to put in big as guarantee for the media licenses, follow up of the cases of violence against journalists, the assessment of more than 170 local radio stations, the implementation of security procedures and the safety of journalists and the media, the creation of journalists and media support fund and plans to establish settlement reporters in Kabul and provinces, creation of funding box to support journalists, creation of journalist city was the major demands of the journalists and media workers which shared with the president.
The president promise that soon he will have a technical meeting with the complains commission and monitoring of law implementation information access to solve the problems of this commission, inclusion of specific budget for the commission in the mid-year review of the national budget was also the promise of the president.
The president also promised the he will invite the representatives of local radios to review their concepts to solve their problems and find a better way to solve their problems.
In regard to the case of violence against journalist and murder of journalists which was presented by this federation the president promised that at earliest he will guide the responsible institutions to act with speed and seriousness.
Before this according to president’s decree in several meetings of justice and law commission of cabinet with presence of Afghanistan journalists and media federation representatives was held, a committee with participation of representatives from MoI, Information and Culture, NDS, Attorney general, supreme court in 8 meetings they review 679 cases and 420 plus of these cases were considered to follow up.
President asked the federation representatives to continue pursuing of these cases with detective in cooperate with justice departments.
About the renewal of media activity permits, and policy of media activity the president spoke with minister of information and culture who was participated in the last meeting in last evening, guided to send their request to the president office to issue a specific decree in this case.
To open a support fund of media, president according to his previous promise emphasize to gather international support funds and draft of this which is created by media federation journalists and media institutions of Afghanistan should be shared with president’s office to take practical steps in this section.
As per continues and increasing of threats of journalists and media workers since months a draft of security ensuring of media workers have be drafted by the federation, this policy has been sent to national security councils about two months ago and there is no information about implementation of this new policy.
The president promised about the implementation of this procedure, he will soon hold a meeting with National Security Council to deal with these problems.
The officials of national journalist and media federation have hopes that the president should fulfill their promises and they will track one by the one the promises of the president to reach in a beneficial conclusion and results.
