Beating up of Reporters by Police Officer in Kunduz

At the end of the last week, two of the reporters were severely beaten up by the police Special Forces officer in Kunduz province. Najim Rahim a freelance journalist and Nazir Ahmad Waqif reporter of the Aljazeera TV in Kunduz were beaten up by the police while they were heading towards one of their colleagues house. This mishap caused a serious injury of Najib Rahim’s nose. He was transferred by his colleague friends to Kabul and his health situation is better now after two operations took place.

The reporters of North-East zone, especially Kunduz province are furiously condemn this behavior. 

Rahmatullah Hurmat, Representative of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union (ANJU) in Kunduz has stated that this province’s journalists are asking for the assessment and follow up of this case. 

Officials of ANJU in Kabul have contacted the Ministry of Interior and will follow up the issue, meeting them personally.
