Fardin Ferdaws Kohistani, the Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union provincial representative in Balkh province was beaten by Balkh Provincial Assembly’s deputy bodyguards yesterday. Mr. Ferdaws who was heading towards Arzoo TV located around Kamgar square of Mazar e Sharif city was crossing Balkh Provindial Asshemly’s Deputy, Zabihullah Kakar’s house while got beaten by Zabihullah Kakar’s bodyguards. According to Ferdaws, a person who was naming himself “Ustad Charsi” and was one of Zabihullah Kakar’s bodyguards has beaten him and threatened him to death.
Authorities of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union says that are in contact with the authorities of Balkh province to further investigate this case. According to them, violence against journalists is apparently against laws of the country and the responsible institiutions, specially security sources should prevent such cases and events.
