Advisory Meeting of the Culture and Information Ministry with the

The advisory meeting of the Culture and Information Ministry (CIM) with the activists and representatives of media was held today following an invitation from the concerned ministry. Nabi Farahi, the temporary head of the CIM who had the initiative to hold this meeting asked for the cooperation and coordination between CIM and representatives and sponsoring and cooperating sources of the Afghan media. Whilst criticizing the performance of this ministry, especially in past five years when Sayed Makhdoom Raheen was heading this ministry, most of the participants of this meeting expressed their best wishes for the good work of the new leadership of the ministry in future and requested a change in their behavior with the media and journalists. 

Demission of the “Investigative Commission of Violations and Complaints towards Media” which was protected by Syed Makhdoom Rahin in objection with the penetrated common media law, establishment the media common law commission which has been predicted in this penetrated law, revision of the Media High Assembly that still contains two appointive members of Makhdoom Rahin representing journalists, consultancy about formation of laws which is in process by the ministry, such as copyright law and regulation of inflimation of the media and blocking terroristic sites and preventing terrorists using social networks were among the requests of most of the participants in this gathering.

The temporary head of CIM promised that will take serious and fast actions regarding all these issues with the full consultancy of media representatives, sponsoring and cooperating institutions.

It is due that the specific requests - which will help improve the media activities in the country – be sent to the ministry by the sponsoring and cooperating bodies of the media and follow each of these issues with the coordination of the ministry.

The Afghanistan’s National Union of Journalists General Director, Abdul Majid Mubarez who had participated in this meeting said: “Afghanistan’s National Union of Journalists has its specific projections about all the issues discussed in the meeting today and the CIM will soon be provided with that.
