Zaki Daryabi is summoned by the Ministry of Culture and Information (MCI) to the illegal Commission of Investigation to Press Complaints and infringements, in order to respond writing two articles recently broadcasted by this newspaper.
The Etla’at e Roz newspaper had severely criticized Syed Makhdoom Rahin, the temporary head of the MCI in two irony articles broadcasted in two issues of 705 and 706.
After broadcast of these articles, representatives of MCI summoned the Chief Editor of this newspaper both through an official letter and phone calls in order to attend the meeting of a commission named “Commission of Investigation to Press Complaints and Infringements”
In response to the demand of the MCI, Mr. Daryabi says he is not ready to attend any meeting of a commission which’s legitimacy is questionable under the common law.
Institutions of journalists’ right protections and reporters have also reacted in regards to this behavior of the MIC.
Sediqullah Tawhidi, the Media Watch Representative says: “When the Commission of Investigation to Press Complaints and Infringements is an illegal commission, we support the decision of Etla’at e Roz Chief Editor.”
While insisting on illegality of the mentioned commission, Fahim Dashti, the Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union Executive Director says: “We all know that Mr. Rahin is head of this illegal commission too. Who has ever seen in the world that someone is complaint as well as judge.”
