Noor Ahmad Payeez, Khorsheed TV reporter was beaten up by the National Security Directorate (NSD) officers. While attempting to cross the road passed by Ministry of Interior with his family,
Mr. Noori has faced with this violent behavior. According to Mr. Noori, he has been faced with such an accident because he stopped his car two or tree steps ahead of the police check. Noor Ahmad Payeez has stated that a number of NSD officers attacked him starting punching and kicking, cursed and humiliated him in front of hundreds of residents who were the witness of this scene.
While confirming beating up of Mr. Payeeez by their officers, representatives of NDS say that will encounter the elements involved in this accident according to the rule and regulations of this institution.
Haseeb Sediqi, the Spokeperson of NDS says: “This accident was occurred when Mr. Payeez wanted to pass the road in front of Ministry of Interior and this road was blocked even to the governmental vehicles due to serious security threats received.” He includes: “Our officers have tried to convince Mr. Payeez that crossing this road is not possible and this caused arguments between two parties and this case was finally ended with violence.”
While Mr. Sediqi says that they have spoken to Mr. Payeez in details about this case, he insists that representatives of this institution are condemning any kind of violent activities against journalists and will pursuit the elements behind these cases.
The supportive insititutions of press and reporters are condemning such violent actions against Mr. Payeez.
The representatives of Afghanistan’s National Union of Journalists say that however the NDS officers have been lesser involved in violence against journalists, but their behavior with Mr. Payeez is concerning.
This union wants the NDS to seriously investigate this case and punish the elements behind this case to prevent such cases and problems in future.
