Collection of Financial Aid for a Reporter

Mauladaad Yaqubi who is working for Aryana TV and the Pajhwok News Agency in Herat is severely ill since a number of weeks and as of now is under treatment in India. According to Mr. Yaqubi’s colleague,

his illness is very dangerous and incurable and from the other hand his family economic situation is also not in a good condition and they are not able to pay for his treatment. Therefore, a number of his colleagues in Herat province with the support of Common Committee of Herat Reporters (CCHR), Jawed Zyaratjayee, Head of Immunity Committee of Reporters in West of Afghanistan, Qadeer Shaheen, representative of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union (ANUJ) and a number of other reporters have started attempts to collect financial aid for the treatment of Mr. Yaqubi. 

Qadeer Shaheen, the representative of ANUJ in Herat says that so far $8,500 USD has been collected for this purpose and this amount hass been given to Mr. Yaqubi’s family in the presence of representatives from reporting institutions in Herat and in the local office of Aryana TV in Herat on Monday. 

The Herat province authority, a number of representatives of Heart People in Parliament, businessmen, governmental departments representatives of Herat and a number of reporters were among the financial supporters.

While appreciating the financial aid for Mr. Yaqubi, the ANUJ will try to contact more individual donors. Mohammad Fahim Dashti, the ANUJ Executive Director says: “Attempts of our colleagues to support one of their colleagues is a sample of commitment to the journalistic profession and humanity values.”
