This week in connection to media freedom day Takhar people saw the naming of a four-way as media four-way/square, by the efforts of
Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union in Takhar in coordination with media institutes, civil society organizations and government officials in Takhar, a square was named media square in Spinzar area of Takhar province.
Mr. Shafiq Poya representative of ANJU in Takhar says, since months we have been trying to name a square as media square which luckily this plan accepted by Takhar officials especially the governor of Takhar.
This week in a ceremony on this occasion was held in Takhar province, representative of media institutes from four province of north west was participated, in this ceremony which was managed by ANJU some of the government official who has already supported the freedom of speech and media have been honored by ANJU and some of other local media institutes have been honored by the government officials.
Takhar government said in this ceremony; par media selfless and sustained efforts, we support media institutes in Takhar, at least we name a square in Takhar by media square, this is not the end, of course we will be ready to support the media and media activists in all areas.
Many TV, Radio and publications are active in Takhar and they are doing their works completely in coordination with ANJU.
Last year, media institutes faced many challenges in Takhar province but with the efforts of ANUU and launching of many programs some of these challenges have been taken off.
