Holding the first ANJU’s executive council

During the meeting of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union’s  supreme council that was held in Kabul, officials were elected for various departments of the Union.

Based on the provisions of Union’s statute, the Union’s executive authorities should be selected from supreme council of the Union. The General assembly of ANJU was held in September last year with participation of 300 members of the Union from Kabul and other provinces. During this assembly 34 members were elected as the members of supreme council of ANJU by the participants.

According to the Union’s statute, Heads of provincial offices and ten founders of the union automatically becomes the members of the supreme council.

In today’s meeting 56 members of supreme council that includes 25 provincial offices officials were present.

During the meeting General Chairman, Chief Executive Director, Executive Vice Presidents and Directors of legal, provincial affairs, international relations, education, publications and spokesman Departments of the Union were elected and are as follow:

 

- Mr. Abdul Hamid Mubariz / General Chairman

- Mr. Muhammad Faheem Dashty/ Chief Executive Director

- Najiba Ayoubi /Voice President

- Mr. Merza Muhammad Keramat /Voice President

- Mr. Ahmad Tassl / Spokesman

- Muhammad Abdullah /Director of Legal Affairs

- Abdul Deyan Ahmadi / Director of Provincial Affairs

- Ahmad Shoaib Fana / Director of Member Affairs

- Bary Salam/ Director of International Relations

- Ali Reza Mohebi/ Director of educational affairs

- Muhammad Tahir Muhammadi Yakawlangi / Director of Publications

During the meeting discussions and decisions were taken place for restarting and expanding ANJU’s operations in those provinces that the Union still has not reached.

ANJU is already active in 28 provinces and soon will be spread to all 34 provinces.

The two years strategy of ANJU which was already been prepared by executive council, have also been discussed in the supreme council’s meeting.

Another decision which has been approved in today’s meeting was initiation of elections among member for electing provincial officials of ANJU. And it is planned to be implemented step by step in different provinces by the end of Ramadan this year.

By implementing this plan, this would be the first time in 34 years of the Union that the provincial officials would be elected through elections.
