Terrorist’s news would be boycotted during Elections

A conference was held with participation of journalists, media activists and media directors of Kabul and other provinces today.During the meeting it was decided to boycott the news from Taliban groupsbecause of security concerns while the election is going on. The conference is held by “Nai / suporting of independent media in Afghanistan” and Australian development organization in Kabul.

The journalists and private Media directors who were invited to the national conference of media directors of Afghanistan, passed a resolution for better coverage of second round presidential elections. Besides boycotting Taliban related news, preventing any issues fueling ethnic and linguistic tensions was another important point of resolution. The resolution also states that the media should not insult and humiliate the second round presidential elections candidates. The resolution that is singed by the participants of the conference would be available to entire media institutions and they would be requested to follow the resolutions during the coverage of second round presidential elections. The participants of the conference have also requested international media which has special broadcasting for Afghanistan,to respect and follow the resolution. Afghanistan media boycotted the news of terrorist attacks during the first round of presidential election which was greatly appreciated by Afghan government and international community and was considered as the reason for extensive participation of people during the election day.
