Statement No: 173

Yesterday, the ‘National Directorate of Security’ arrested Abdul Marof Tafakuri, a lecturer in Takhar University who had declared ‘Jihad’ against journalists.

Tafakuri in his assertions which is documented by the ANJU has repeatedly called the journalists and media as “Evil, Jewish, and Devil group” and declared ‘Jihad’ against them wishing the ISIS may punish them.

Following his detention by ‘National Directorate of Security’, some circles in Takhar province are trying to release him. ANJU with expressing its deep concerns regarding such efforts, asks the offices of the President and that of Chief Executive to block such efforts which otherwise would release Tafakuri from legal prosecution.

Moreover, we will send the existing documents in this regard enclosed with official letters to the related agencies as soon as possible to facilitate further legal decisions on this case.

ANJU while expressing its deep regrets about the martyrdom of Muhammad Nasir Mudaser the Editor of Radio ‘Paigham-e-Melli’ in Logar province, believes that his martyrdom is a tremendous loss for the entire journalist community especially that of Logar province. The Union calls upon related government officials to find the perpetrators of this case and bring them to justice as soon as possible.
