
International press freedom day has been celebrated in Zabul Province. A number of governmental and private media directors and journalists have participated the meeting that were held in provincial culture Deportment of Zabul Province.
The participants of the meeting declared that the security problems and lack of immunity to reporters or journalists are the biggest problems in Zabul province, and requested responsible government agencies to address these problems.
Mr. Abdul Moqim Afghan president of information and culture deportment in Zabul emphasized to help journalists and promised to prepare the ground of better activities of journalists with cooperation of other governmental institutions.
Mr. Ahmad Wali Sarhadi head of (ANJU) office in Zabul appreciated the cooperation of Provincial information and culture Department, and also complained about a number of governmental institutions. He included:” Some officials of government institutions do not make the information available to journalists and the lack of access to information is the major problems in Zabul”.
Mr. Esmatullah Omari, (Tranak Radio) Reporter was also present at the meeting and emphasized that the reporters of Zabul province committed to deliver impartial reports to the people, and will continue their efforts with all problems facing journalists. At the end of the meeting awards were dedicated to journalists by Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union.
