End of usurping case of National TV property in Ghor Province

In last day’s meeting of Ministers council, it was decided that the property of National TV is usurped by the municipality of Ghor province and should be returned back to the office of National TV. Nearly a month ago, the municipality of Ghor province tried to usurp the surrounding lands of National TV and hand it over to privet sector. In response to this action of Municipality, National TV officials stopped its broadcasting.

After the efforts which were made by Afghanistan National Journalists Union and civil society institutions of Ghor province, the municipality accepted to not distribute the land to private sectors until the verdict of court. So National TV restarted its broadcasts.

In April 9, 2014, the mayor again attempted to usurp the property, and the residence including journalists and civil society activists in response to this action protested that been beaten by police officials.

Advocacy institutions of journalists and Media strongly condemned this act of Police officials and requested security officials to find the preparatory and bring them to justice. Therefore in Sunday’s meeting which were held with Ministry of Interior requested a quick investigation of this case and finally in Saturday’s meeting of Ministers Council this case was discussed and decisions were made that the municipality of Ghor Province have no right to usurp the property of National TV.  

Mr. Alawudin Muhammad director of National TV in Ghor province says:” we all appreciate the effort of those who supported us especially Journalists and civil society activists and citizens of Ghor province”.

Afghanistan National Journalists Members tried to get the opinion of mayor about the case but could not succeed.
