Illegal summoned of two Media activists by attorney

Dr. Khalil Narmgoy, an experienced journalist and Shair Mohammad Jahish head of Tanwir TV in Baghlan Province were summoned and interrogated by attorney office after the complaints of National security department. These two journalists have been interrogated yesterday because of their testimony according to the violence against journalists and Government University examinees in Baghalan Province.

On february 12th while a number of journalists were covering the complaints of governmental university examinees, they have been beaten by the police and national security officers, in this incident, in addition of reporters and number of students who had been complaining that they have not received enrollment cards to exam, were also faced violence.

Afghanistan's National Journalists Union in response to interrogation of Mr. Narmgoy and Mr. Jahish has contacted the General Directorate of National Security, the Attorney General and Ministry of Information and Culture and requested that the investigation of this tow should be done through legal channels.

Mr. Faheem Dashty, chief executive director of ANJU said: “According to Media Law, any kind of complaints against journalists or Media should firstly go through Mass Media Commission and no other authorities have the right to investigate the journalists or Media before Mass Media Commission."

Article forty-third of Mass Media Law has given the authority to Mass Media Commission to investigate the complaints on Journalists or Media.
