
Journalists and media activists from different provinces held protests demanding the rigorous pursuit of Noor Ahmad Nouri, “Boost” local radio reporter and the New York Times contributor, murder case. Nouri was murdered by unknown people in the suburbs of Lashkargah city of Helmand province last Thursday. However, the security officials have reported about ongoing investigations of the case but the causes and the identities of the perpetrators of the incident are not clear yet.
Journalists and media activists of Mazar Sharif gathered today in protest of the incident today and asked the government officials to identify and arrest the murderers immediately.
Fardeen Ferdaws head of Afghanistan National Journalists’ Union (ANJU) in Balkh province said: “in the gathering head of journalists support organizations, head of media outlets and journalists had participated.”
Journalists of Takhar province also held protest this morning and asked Interior Ministry and National Security Directorate to pursue the case of Nouri’s murder.
Shafeeq Puya head of ANJU in Takhar province said: “in the gathering Fatiha was recited for Nouri and for M. Shahed Naimi who has been killed in a suicide attack in Kabul two days before.”
Journalists and head of media outlets in Khost province also expressed their condolences for the death for Nouri in their yesterday meeting.
According to Zahed Shah Angar head of ANJU in Khost province in the gathering almost twenty journalists and head of media outlets had participated.
Angar added: “the participants of the gathering requested the security establishments of the country that Nouri’s murder case should not be forgotten as the previous cases of journalists during past years.”
Journalists in Herat and Kundoz provinces have held the same gathering during past days.
In another initiative journalists and media activists of Dikundy province have sent an open letter to the President and asked him to order the security establishments for pursuing the murder case of Nouri.
