Journalists and media activists in different provinces condemned the murder of Helmand’s “Boost” local radio journalist Nour Ahmad Nouri. Rahatullah Hurmat head of Afghanistan Journalists Union (ANJU) in Kunduz province said: “Today in a peaceful rally journalists and media activists condemned Nouri’s murder and asked the security establishments to identify and arrest the perpetrators.”
According to Mr. Hurmat at the end of the rally a resolution was passed that contained the following main points:
“We the journalists of Northeast of the country want from the government to take care of journalists’ security and do not hesitate save their lives.”
Journalists in Herat also got together for the same purpose today and asked for serious tracking the case.
Qadeer Shaheen head of ANJU in Herat said: “Journalists from different media outlets and the journalists support organizations had participated in the gathering.”
According to Mr. Shaheen the protesters wanted the perpetrators of Nouri’s murder to be arrested immediately.
They also asked the responsible authorities to seriously follow the murder cases of journalists who have been killed in different parts of the country during past years.
It’s going to be the same rally in Mazar city tomorrow.
