
Hashmatullah Yazdanpanah, a journalist for Katiba weekly and a local journalist has born violent treatment, abuse and has been thrown out of the gate of governor’s office this morning where he was supposed to cover a press conference.
Mr. Yazdanpanah asserts that he was assaulted after being sworn to by a police officer beating him in the face and punching him in the waist while he was trying to photograph the entrance of the governorate office and he has then sustained some injuries inflicted by the gun point of the same police officer.
He emphasizes that he was offensively thrown out of the entrance of the governor’s office and he was only able to attend the conference after the mediations of some other officers.
This journalists conceives the conduct of the security guards in the gates of governor’s office offensive, and demands the scrutiny of the incident by relative government and journalists support agencies.
Nevertheless Mr. Qadeer Shahin the representative of Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union (ANJU) in Herat province states that he along with some others have reported the incident to Mr. Ayub Ansari the police commander of Herat.
According to Mr. Shahin, the commander has had the aforementioned officer arrested, and he is currently in detention.
This person has been identified as Abdullah the warden of the first security district of the National Police, and the incident is under further investigations.
Though Mr. Hashmat Yazdanpanah has sustained some injuries in his hand, his medical condition is now satisfactory.
