The Safety Guide for Afghan Journalists which was prepared and published by Afghanistan’s National Journalists Union (ANJU) was unveiled today.
In a press conference for this occasion held in ANJU’s office, explanations were provided on the contents of the Guide and its effects on the safety of journalist and media workers.
Fahim Dashti, Director of ANJU asserted in today’s press conference that: “both the government and journalists’ support unions as well as journalists themselves are responsible to ensure their safety.”
He added: “the contents of this Guide will help journalists to learn new methods to ensure their safety and security.”
According to Dashti, the Guide has been published in 3000 copies in Pashto and Farsi, and it will be available in all provinces to journalists and media workers.
He also said that ANJU intends to hold training workshops on the contents of the Guide in different provinces.
The Safety Guide for Afghan Journalists has been prepared using internal and external materials, and the costs for publication and training program has been provided by InterNews in the framework of “Rasana” project.
