
President Karzai promised in a meeting on Sunday to a number of Media directors and heads of Media supporting organizations to take out all criminal cases that were made in recent years for Journalists and media outlets by illegal Media Complaint commission. President announced it while a number of Journalists and Media Directors complaint on Ministry of Information and Culture for making unjustly cases for Journalists by misusing the power of Media Complained commission which is an structure in confrontation with Media Law.
Afghanistan's National Journalists Union in a press conference which was held on Wednesday in its main office requested President to issue an order for retaining the desired files.
Abdul Hamid Mobariz, President of ANJU included during news conference ; “ we appreciates the promise of President for solving the cases of Journalists and Media, and we request him to start this important process by issuing an official decree to judicial institutions.”
In previous years, especially in the last four years, Sayed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of Information and culture who is at the sometime the head of Media complaint Commission, made cases on the basis of allegation against a number Media and also to some famous Journalists .
Tolo TV, Saba TV, Mandigar News Paper, Sarnawisht News Paper, 8 Sobh News Paper and Pazhwak News agency are among those that most of the charges were made on them.
Faheem Dashty, Chief Executive of ANJU says: “ In past years the efforts have also been made to convince the judicial institutions according to unsubstantiated cases and when a few cases of journalists and Media ended up for their benefit, Majority of these cases are still under process”.
Dashty Included: “ Now that the president has promised for solving these cases, Afghanista's National Journalists Union will officially contact President office and Supreme Court of the Country for relieving Journalists and Media from baseless cases of Ministry of Information and Culture.
